The Premier Leagues great escapers are slowly but surely slipping away in what is undoubtedly the tightest Premier League we have seen for many years. West Hams fortunes of late have made for simply dyer viewing, with Hammers fans growing increasingly concerned at the prospect of life in the Championship. Sure, it is early doors at this stage, but as games come and go West Ham will have le s opportunity to pull themselves from the dreaded relegation zone. What has gone wrong in recent times? Is the thought of relegation starting to become a reality for Hammers fans? The facts arising from this season so far make for very poor reading if you support West Ham. Lying rock bottom of the Premier League with 12 points from 16 games, scoring a lowly 16 goals and conceding 27 in the proce s. The club have the second worst Home and Away records in the league; indicating that something really needs to change.Last season West Ham were involved in an ongoing relegation battle; managing to survive with an incredible 35 points (7 le s than when they were relegated in 2003/04). The apparent safety target of 40 points is slowly decreasing as the Premier League continues, perhaps indicating that the bottom end of the Premier League is progre sively weakening. West Ham should be starting to worry about their future, before it is too late. Avram Grant spoke on Sunday about his belief that the team is showing improvement, reflecting on the 1 Samuel Fagemo Kids Jersey -0 lo s tSunderlando by saying thatThe team are progre sing and getting more efficient, unfortunately, it didnt happen on Sunday. Is their any substance to what Avram Grant is suggesting here? I can accept that West Hams away lo ses have often been by a solitary goal, which suggests that the team may not be very easy to break down, but are not putting the ball in the back of the net. The influential Scott Parker and Striker Frederic Piquionne have scored four goals each; which have ensured that West Hams position is not as bad as it could have been.Avram Grant can see signs of improvement in the side. Photo: Telegraph Online.Following the clubs takeover last season, David Gold and David Sullivan put together a 10 point plan (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article7129529.ece) which to date has not changed the fortunes of the club. Point 1 (Appoint the right Manager) and Point 7 (Make it Enjoyable to Come and Watch) are two areas that do not seem to have surfaced.Karen Brady reflected on the early season signings and potential busine s in January by statingWe have been able to look at where there are weakne ses in the team and January is our opportunity to go and put things right. We did quite a bit of busine s in the summer, but obviously not enough. Highlighting that their is a problem is a step in the right direction. West Ham have looked weak in different areas this season. The back four have not looked overly comfortable working as a unit. Carlton Cole, Frederic Piquionne and goalkeeper Robert Green have appeared in all 16 Premier League games this season. Coles return of one goal in this time has made West Ham Ilya Kovalchuk Men Jersey lightweight and rather haple s up front; with the team relying on the aforementioned Piquionne for goals.Scott Partker is a talking point for the clubs fans, regarding his future at the club. Like Steven Gerrard for Liverpool and John Terry for Chelsea, Parker is a leader in the side. His ability to shine at West Ham is ingoing; and his influential performances in Midfield have ensured West Hams predicament is not a disaster. On a positive note, due to the closely contested league this season the Hammers find themselves only three points from safety at the moment. A couple of good results will see the Hammer move out of the relegation zone for sure. Man City await them at the weekend, but after this the Hammers will not play against any team in the top four until January. Ma sive games against Fulham, Everton and Wolves will take place in December; meaning January will give a much clearer picture of the how the season may turn out.I believe that West Ham have the talent in the side to survive in the Premier League. Fans will be all too used to hearing such points, but this season I maintain that point. I think West Ham will survive this season, particularly with the help of some other teams performing poorly. They will soon have to start picking up points if a sense of renewed hope is to be installed into the squad. Relegation would I feel result in huge changes that will make it difficult for the club to bounce back. Scott Parker will always be able to lift the side in times of need; making him my Key Player in West Hams survival. Best of luck to them!DH
